Ollie’s Trolley

I feel that the greatest American culinary invention has become something people don’t think of as an art anymore. instead it is just something they can stop anywhere and pick up for a dollar to keep them moving to the next place they have to be. I am of course talking about the cheeseburger. The cheeseburger is the greatest American food, yet so many people take advantage of it and don’t even try to make it all that it can be. So it is always a delight to have  a burger that someone put some thought into.

At Ollie’s Trolley they have not forgotten what the burger means, but they have also not forgotten that a burger is the quick lunch of Americans. In the tiny trolley on the corner of 3rd and Kentucky, they same four ladies work hard to keep the service fast and the burgers amazing. Although they are only open M-F from 11am-4pm, I have never seen Ollie’s without a small line in the tiny quarters of the trolley. But because the ladies behind the counter know their jobs so well, you rarely wait for more than a few minutes.

The burgers at Ollie’s are one of a kind, they have a special seasoning on them, have Swiss cheese rather than american, and are covered in the amazing Ollie’s sauce. You can of course get your burger dressed with all the normal fixings of lettuce, tomato and onion, but the Ollie burger with cheese is so good, you really don’t need all the extras. The fries though, outshine the burgers. They are fried perfectly every time and are covered in their special seasoning that has justa hint of spicy flavor to give the fries a nice kick.

I was first introduced to Ollie’s by my dad when I graduated from middle school, which I originally thought was kind of a strange place to take your daughter for a graduation lunch, but it turned out to be the best place because it is a gift that keeps on giving.

  1. One must not only review Ollie’s Trolley and not take a short walk down to Dizzy Whizz. Both are amazing for fast food. Although, if you’re looking for a good old fashioned burger joint, Five Guys in New Albany or Home Run Burgers on Hurstbourne are the way to go.

    • I am working on trying as much food as possible. I will take your advice and try Dizzy Whizz although it may take awhile for me to get around to it. I will try Home Run Burgers as well, althoug I am totally put off by their terrible webiste. As for Five Guys in New Albany I will have to decline that offer for a review because I am focusing on local restaurants or restaurant chains that have died out. I don’t think Five Guys is local enough. Thanks!
